Grand Imam mourns luminary scholar Abdel Fattah Baraka, member of the Council of Senior Scholars
In constant contentment with the Will of Allah, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, mourned the distinguished scholar Prof. Abdel Fattah Baraka, Professor of Theology and Philosophy at Al-Azhar University, former Secretary General of the Islamic Research Academy, who passed away Wednesday morning at 90. The Grand Imam asserted that the late scholar dedicated his life to the service of knowledge and of his students; and he was an ideal character in generosity and sincere dissemination of Al-Azhar moderate approach. He thus left a rich legacy of books, articles and recordings that shall remain a primary reference for students of religions and theology. The Grand Imam extends sincere condolences to the family and disciples of the late Professor, asking Allah Almighty to bless him with ample mercy and forgiveness, to dwell him in vast gardens of Paradise, to make his knowledge an intercessor for him on the Judgment Day, and to lend his family and relatives patience and solace: “Surely, we belong to Allah and unto Him we shall return".
