Grand Imam instructs providing medical care to the mother of an international student at Al-Azhar
The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb expressed his appreciation for the quick response of the Egyptian Medical Center (EMC) established by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, in Juba, capital of South Sudan, to the humanitarian situation of the mother of an international female student at Al-Azhar University. The response followed the Grand Imam’s request to the EMC to adopt the case of the mother, and thus help the student pursue her studies, given that she was forced to drop her college attendance and return to her country to take care of her mother. The South Sudanese student, Siham Abakar Idris, had appealed to the Grand Imam to approve of her postponement of studies so that she could return to her country and take care of her sick mother. Thereupon, His Eminence the Grand Imam immediately directed that Al-Azhar specialists directly communicate with the EMC in Juba to provide full medical care for the student’s mother.
The Grand Imam expressed his sincere appreciation and thanks to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for his efforts in sustaining medical and other humanitarian services in the most needy African countries, the case which has had a great impact in strengthening Egypt’s African relations and promoting its status in the hearts of African peoples.
