The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif calls on world leaders to put out the fires of war and save the weak and displaced
Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif warned the world of the atrocity of wars, the bitterness of conflicts and their devastating effects reflected in the collapse of the economy, the loss of resources, and the spread of poverty, illiteracy, disease and hatred as a result of the suffering of many innocent and helpless people, not only in the countries in which wars break out but also possibly on other various countries of the world. HE wrote on his official account on Facebook and Twitter, "My generation and I have witnessed the cruelty of war, and experienced the bitterness of conflicts. We have seen their devastating effects, the collapse of the economy, the loss of resources, the spread of poverty, illiteracy, disease and hatred." His Eminence also sent a message to the world’s wise leaders, "Do your best to extinguish the fires of war, stand together and exert all possible efforts to save the vulnerable and the displaced so that the endeavor you have done to achieve stability and bring justice and peace for your people and for humanity may be registered in history”.
