Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif, extends his sincere congratulations to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic of Egypt, the Egyptian people, and the Muslim and the Arab countries, kings, princes, presidents, leaders and peoples, on the occasion of the advent of the holy month of Ramadan, may Allah’s Blessings and Favors encompass the entire Muslim nation. The Grand Imam calls upon everyone to take advantage of the holy month of Ramadan by trying to draw closer to Allah via regularly performing acts of worship, and to help the poor and the needy so as to make the month of Ramadan a starting point for reviving the values of tolerance, love and communication among us. It provides a strong motive for doing more acts of worship and showing obedience to Allah Almighty and seeking refuge in Him, in hope of enjoying His Mercy and Forgiveness, calling on Him to grant us the power to duly worship Him during the month of and Ramadan, and to provide us with the blessing of enjoying security, safety, and stability, and to save all humanity from the evil of all the ongoing wars, conflicts and epidemics. 

The Grand Imam reminds Muslims in this holy month to care about their poor and needy fellow brothers, to help and support them and to let Ramadan be the month of mercy, compassion and solidarity as pointed out in the Holy Hadith, as the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said, "The believers, in their mutual kindness, compassion and sympathy, are just like one body. When one of the limbs suffers, the whole body responds to it with insomnia and fever". The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar called upon merchants and sellers to fear God and know that monopolizing goods and raising the prices form a great crime that spoils people's lives. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) warned against such misdeeds saying, “Whoever manipulates the prices of goods that belong to Muslims with the aim of raising its price, Allah Almighty has surely prepared for him a painful punishment in Hellfire in the Hereafter”.
