Al-Azhar Grand Imam congratulates Pope Tawadros and Christian brothers on Easter

Al-Azhar Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, made a phone call to His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of the Orthodox Church, to congratulate him on Easter, wishing the Christian brothers in Egypt and the world that such occasions bring to them goodness and peace.
 
During the call, the Grand Imam expressed Al-Azhar's pride in the relationship that binds the Egyptians: Muslims and Christians, which stems from the correct understanding of religion. His Eminence stressed that his congratulations are not out of courtesy or formalities, but they rather come from understanding of the teachings of our true religion. He noted that the relationship between Muslims and Christians is a true embodiment of unity and fraternity, and that this fraternity will always remain a solid bond that strengthens the homeland in the face of difficulties and challenges.
 
His Holiness Pope Tawadros, for his part, expressed his happiness at the call of Al-Azhar Grand Imam, and his contentment with the permanent renewal of the bonds of friendship and love, and the strong Egyptian national fabric that unites Muslims and Christians. He pointed out his pride in the relationship between church leaders and Al-Azhar scholars, and that this relationship is a reflection of the cooperation and relationship that links the two ancient institutions in various fields.
