Al-Azhar Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, said the miracles of the Noble Qur’an are like an endless ocean, with which the Lord Almighty supported His Prophet and Messenger Muhammad (pbuh). The revelation of this Qur’an is a bright light and mercy to the worlds, sent down on a blessed night that is better than a thousand months. He explained that there are many aspects of miracles in the Noble Qur’an, including: telling about unknown incidents that belong to the distant past, and about other unseen events that belong to the unknown future about which people did not know anything. The Prophet (pbuh) told people about those unknown incidents and recited them as if he saw them in front of him with his own eyes.
During his speech on the celebration of Laylat ul-Qadr (the Night of Glory), the Grand Imam explained that Allah Almighty has ensured the preservation of this Noble Book, and His promise came in the body of its verses, saying: “Indeed, it is We Who have sent down the Reminding Book, and surely it is We Who will preserve it.” (Qur’an, 15: 9). His Eminence stressed that the Sanctity of the Qur’an cannot be affected by the tampering of the dwarfs and their ilk in countries that are badly in need of its morals so that they may realize the huge gap between the freedom of expression and freedom of obscenity and profanity. They need to realize the difference between the culture of civilization and the culture of the jungle, and between the freedom of the civilized and polite human being on the one hand, and the chaos of the brutal human who is free from all restrictions on the other.
His Eminence emphasized that the like of these little ones who slander the Holy Book of Allah have always been there, and will remain as long as people fall into infidels and believers in this world, and as long as there are soldiers that belong to Allah, the Most Merciful as well as a gang that belongs to Satan. He stressed that Muslims do not doubt that this Noble Qur’an will remain on its perch a divine book guiding all humanity, and that his light will never be extinguished. Allah Almighty has pledged to protect it, to the dismay of the unbelievers, the polytheists, and the criminals.
