Al-Azhar Grand Imam honors winners of the annual Grand Imam Competition for Memorizing the Holy Qur’an
Under the patronage of Al-Azhar Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, Al-Azhar is holding a grand celebration at Al-Azhar Mosque, today, after Al-ˁAṣr (the Afternoon) prayer, to honor the winners of the annual Grand Imam Competition for Memorizing the Holy Qur’an. This competition is supervised by the General Administration of the Holy Qur’an Affairs in the Sector of Al-Azhar Institutes in coordination with the Holy Qur’an Review Committee at the Islamic Research Academy, and the General Administration of Al-Azhar Mosque.
This year, more than 162,000 male and female students applied for the competition, which is held annually throughout Egypt; 104,529 out of them passed the first stage test. In March 2022, the final qualification phase started at all the institutes affiliated with Al-Azhar, and 22,794 students will be honored throughout the Republic of Egypt.
The 388 male and female students who obtained the highest scores in the final exams across Egypt were nominated, and the Grand Imam is scheduled to honor the top ten at the level of the Republic, this afternoon at the headquarters of Al-Azhar. After that, a major celebration will be held at Al-Azhar Mosque to honor the 54 male and female winning students who came first at Al-Azhar regions.
