Al-Azhar Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, received today, Thursday, at the headquarters of Al-Azhar, Dr. Andre Zaki, Head of the Evangelical Community, and a high-level delegation of leaders of the Evangelical community who came to congratulate His Eminence on the blessed ˁEid ul-Fiṭr.
The Grand Imam expressed his pleasure at meeting the brothers and friends of the Evangelical Church, led by the dear brother Dr. Andrea, expressing his sincere congratulations on Easter, and praying to Allah to restore these occasions to our beloved Egypt with all goodness, security, love and peace.
Al-Azhar Grand Imam stressed that the solidarity of Muslims and Christians and their participation in all occasions and holidays presents the world with a living model of coexistence among the people of the same nation. Such solidarity stems from correct understanding of our true religion, and is not out of compliments or formalities as promoted by some who do not understand the philosophy of religion and its message of promoting love and peace among all. His Eminence said, “When you find my heart open to others, it is because I proceed from the message of Moses, Jesus and our Prophet Muhammad (pbut).”
The Head of the Evangelical community, for his part, said: “We wish you and all Muslims in Egypt and the world continued peace, health and love, and wish to our country progress and prosperity; and we cherish the distinguished relationship with Your Eminence, for you are a great human value and a source of peace and coexistence.”
The Head of the Evangelical community pointed out that the recent statements of Grand Imam At-Tayyeb regarding the relationship of Muslims and Christians heal homeland ailments, and they represent an authentic position that contributes to the peace of society. He expressed his pride in his relationship with Al-Azhar Grand Imam, and said that the Grand Imam is not a spiritual leader for Muslims only, but for all Egyptians.
