The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, mourned Sheikhah Tanazhur Muhammad Mustafa An-Najouli, one of the oldest reciters and teachers of the Qur’an, who dedicated her life to the teaching and reciting of the Qur’an. This eulogy was posted by the Grand Imam on his Facebook and Twitter accounts, and it read as follows, "Today, the Muslim nation has lost a shining example, whose insight is enlightened with the Qur'an. It sought the path of goodness setting the most wonderful example in spreading the sciences of the Qur'an. Sheikhah Tanazhur An- Najouli is one of the oldest reciters and memorizers of the age. O Allah, make the Qur'an an intercessor for her and cover her with the vastness of your mercy and forgiveness, O Most Merciful of the merciful." “We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return.” Sheikhah Tanazhur was born in 1924 in Nasiryyah village, Samanoud, Gharibyyah governorate. In her early childhood, she had smallpox which resulted in her losing eyesight forever. Throughout her life, she had always been known as notably active, with heart insight and an exceptionally strong memory. Till her death, the Qur'an had always been well remembered in her memory.
