Today, at the Headquarters of Al-Azhar, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif, received Mr. Kemoko Diakité, the new Senegalese Ambassador to Cairo, to discuss boosting academic and Da’wah relations. The Grand Imam welcomed Mr. Diakité, congratulating him on his new post and wishing him constant success. He also stressed Al-Azhar's keenness to strengthen its role in Senegal and all other African countries, noting that 327 Senegalese students are enrolled in different educational stages in Al-Azhar and that Al-Azhar offers 27 academic scholarships annually to Senegalese students. He added that there are 73 Azharite envoys in Senegal and confirmed that Al-Azhar is keen to boost its academic and Da’wah relations with Senegal and contribute to the dissemination of the moderate Azharite curriculum there through its graduates and envoys. He further stated that Al-Azhar is ready to establish an Arabic Language Center in Senegal, in a way that contributes to teaching Senegalese the language of the Glorious Quran and helping them master it. For his part, Mr. Diakité conveyed to the Grand Imam the greetings of President Macky Sall and his appreciation for the Grand Imam’s efforts to advocate the causes of Islam and the Muslims. He also reiterated President Sall’s invitation to the Grand Imam to visit Senegal and asserted that the Senegalese government and people look forward to this historic visit.
Mr. Diakité also expressed his confidence and pride in the service and care provided by Al-Azhar to Senegalese students, which is always expected from Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif. He then asserted that Al-Azhar's moderate curriculum has made it a destination for students from Senegal and all other countries of the continent. He concluded that this reflects the great status of Al-Azhar in Egypt and the Musim world.
