At the direction of His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Egyptian Zakat and Charity House, Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, the fourth convoy of the Zakat and Charity House set off today, Thursday, for the Gaza Strip via the Rafah border crossing. The convoy consists of 50 trucks carrying approximately 1,000 tons of medical supplies, food, clean water, and large quantities of blankets, quilts, and mattresses.
The fourth relief convoy, sent by the Egyptian Zakat and Charity House to the Gaza Strip, witnessed great international participation, in response to the invitation addressed by His Eminence, to all the peoples of the world to participate in the global campaign for Gaza to relieve the suffering of the weak and innocent children and women who have been exhausted by the brutal Zionist aggression.
Nearly 70 countries participated in preparing the convoy, including: Oman, Australia, Italy, Spain, Britain, Iraq, Morocco, Kuwait, Jordan, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Brazil, Argentina, Japan, Pakistan, Qatar, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Malaysia, Tanzania, Indonesia, Argentina, and Tunisia. In addition, large numbers of volunteers participated in preparing relief materials for the fourth convoy to deliver it to the people of Gaza, through the Rafah border crossing on the Egyptian-Palestinian border.
The Gaza Strip received the first relief convoy of the Zakat and Charity House under its “Save Gaza” campaign through Rafah border crossing, headed by Dr. Sahar Nasr, Executive Director of the Egyptian Zakat and Charity House, on the evening of Tuesday, November 1st. The convoy consisted of 18 trucks, carrying large quantities of medical supplies, food, baby milk, infant supplies, and clean water. A second convoy loaded with 40 large trucks arrived on Tuesday, November 21, and the third convoy arrived on the morning of Tuesday, November 28. The current convoy brings the number of supply trucks that entered the Gaza Strip to 125 with a total of about 2,000 tons of relief aid.
