Accepting the will of Allah, His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, mourned with great sadness the loss of his brother, friend, and colleague, Professor Abdu Zayed, who passed away this Saturday morning. Zayed was a Professor of Rhetoric at the Faculty of Arabic at Al-Azhar University and other Arab Universities.
The Grand Imam mentioned that he had been friends with the deceased since childhood when they left the same village to study at various educational levels, ending with studying at Al-Azhar University. He added that the deceased was a role model in manners, ethics, and knowledge; he was loyal to Al-Azhar throughout his career since he was a teaching assistant until he devoted himself to research. The Grand Imam said that the deceased did not spare any effort to serve knowledge seekers and researchers and was the best representative of Al-Azhar in scientific and academic forums. His books will remain a reliable source of authority for students and researchers in the sciences and literature of the Arabic language.
His Eminence extended his sincere condolences to the family of Prof. Zayed, and the Faculty of the Arabic Language at Al-Azhar University, and to his friends and students, entrusting his late friend to the boundless compassion of Allah Almighty.
