His Holiness, Pope Tawadros II, the Pope of Alexandria and the Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, congratulated this morning, Wednesday, His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, on the approach of Eid Al-Adha.

 

During the phone call, His Holiness expressed his sincere congratulations to the Grand Imam and all Muslims on the occasion of the coming Eid al-Adha, noting that the holidays are an opportunity to renew the bonds of love and friendship between Egyptians– Muslims and Christians, and use such occasions to strengthen the Egyptian national fabric, which reflects the strength of these relations among Egyptians. He called on God Almighty to grant success to the Grand Imam in his endeavors to achieve global peace, elevate Egypt's status with enlightened thought and consolidate the culture of citizenship, dialogue and coexistence across the world.

 

For his part, the Grand Imam expressed his sincere appreciation for this cordial call, and his good wishes to His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, and to all Egyptian Christians, stressing that the holidays are a good opportunity for achieving more cohesion and brotherhood between the people of the homeland and the exchange of peace and love between Muslims and Christians. However, he stated that we are overwhelmed with great sadness for the approach of the blessed Eid al-Adha while the people of Gaza are still suffering from the Zionist aggression that has violated all aspects of life in Gaza, calling on Allah Almighty to relieve the distress of the people of Palestine, and to grant Egypt security and safety and to make it an oasis of peace and stability.
