Grand Imam directs the disbursement of urgent aid to the families of victims and the injured in the Sohag train accident
His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, directed Al-Azhar officials to quickly take all measures towards disbursing a 50-thousand pounds aid to the families of the victims for each deceased, and 25 thousand pounds to those injured in the Sohag two trains collision that occurred today, Friday. He also made sure that all preparations for treating the injured and furnishing Al-Azhar University Hospital in Assiut with necessary equipment are made to properly deal with the tragic accident. The Grand Imam underscored solidarity with the families of the victims and the injured in their affliction, which is a massive affliction for the entire Egyptian people, praying to Allah Almighty to grant the injured a speedy recovery. For his part, Dr. Muhammad Al-Mahrasawi, President of Al-Azhar University, stated that based on the directives of the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, the University Hospital in Assiut is now equipped and fully prepared to receive the victims of the tragic accident. Prof. Al-Mahrasawi also announced the hospital’s readiness to receive critical cases and provide them with the necessary specialized and urgent medical treatment and surgical services, given that some cases require major and delicate operations.
