Grand Imam of Al-Azhar condemns the terrorist attack on a church in Indonesia

The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, condemned the terrorist attack that targeted a church in Makassar, Indonesia, on Sunday. The attack resulted in a number of injuries and in killing the attacker. The Grand Imam depicted the incident as “a heinous crime”. In a bilingual tweet, on his official Facebook and Twitter accounts, His Eminence expressed full solidarity with the leadership and the people of Indonesia in connection with this terrorist incident. He depicted the incident as one meant to frighten the innocent and instill terror in the hearts of safe people. He thus called on Almighty Allah to grant the injured a speedy recovery, and to protect our world from the dangers and evils of terrorism. The post reads as follows, “We stand in solidarity with the leadership and the people of Indonesia regarding the terrorist incident that targeted a church in Makassar; and we declare our strong condemnation of such heinous crimes that aim at frightening the innocent and instilling terror in the hearts of safe people. We pray to Allah to grant the injured a speedy recovery and to protect our world from the dangers and evils of terrorism.”
