Al-Azhar Grand Imam stresses the need to mobilize relief efforts to support international institutions to resume their work in Gaza.

The Grand Imam stresses the need for cooperation to support the reconstruction of health and educational institutions in Gaza immediately after aggression stops.

His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders (MCE), Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, received Chairman of Indonesia’s National Zakat Agency (BAZNAS), Dr. Noor Ahmad, at his residence in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, to discuss ways to enhance joint cooperation in support of Gaza.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Ahmad welcomed the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar to Indonesia, stressing that his visit is highly valued by Indonesians, given that Al-Azhar represents a scientific and religious reference for Indonesian Muslims. He also pointed out the cooperation and coordination between the Egyptian Zakat and Charity House - the charitable arm of Al-Azhar - and the National Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) in Indonesia.

Dr. Ahmad confirmed that coordination and cooperation between BAZNAS and the Zakat and Charity House has reached its highest levels since the beginning of the aggression on Gaza, as the Indonesian people rose up to support the people of Gaza by preparing relief and humanitarian convoys and sending them to the Gaza Strip through the Egyptian Zakat House.

The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, for his part, welcomed the intensification of cooperation between Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and BAZNAS with regard to supporting Gaza, and mobilizing relief efforts to save innocent children, women and elderly people who are being subjected to the most heinous forms of torture, in addition to supporting international institutions to resume their work in Gaza, most notably the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

His Emiencne stressed the necessity for extending cooperation to include supporting the reconstruction of health and educational institutions destroyed as a result of the aggression on Gaza, and the reconstruction of homes and residential buildings after the aggression ends. His Eminence has called on everyone to extend a helping hand to our oppressed brothers in Gaza until Allah wills to end the injustice they are facing.
