The Grand Imam of al-Azhar is the great Islamic authority whom we follow and in whose position we take pride, Sheikh ul-Islam of Azerbaijan

Sheikh ul-Islam and Grand Mufti of the Caucasus, and member of the Muslim Council of Elders, His Eminence Haji Allahshükür Pashazade, was keen to offer his condolences to His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders (MCE), Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, at the VIP Airport, before His Eminence left the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, heading to the homeland to receive condolences for the death of his sister.

Pashazade expressed the sincere condolences of Azerbaijan, its leadership, government and people, to the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar on the death of his sister, praying to Allah Almighty to bestow His mercy and forgiveness upon her, and to grant His Eminence patience and solace.

Pashazade also conveyed the greetings of the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, to the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, and expressed his pride in this important visit, as well as the pride of the Azerbaijani people in the visit of the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar. Pashazade stressed that this visit will contribute to strengthening joint relations in the future, and will have a great impact on the Muslims of Azerbaijan, pointing out that the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar represents the great Islamic authority that we are proud of and that we take for a role model.

His Eminence the Grand Imam expressed his appreciation for the keenness of Sheikh ul-Islam in Azerbaijan to offer his condolences and bid him farewell before his departure from the country, stressing His Eminence’s pride in visiting this country, which is dear to every Muslim.
