Al-Azhar Grand Imam (GI) and MCE Chairman, Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, for his generous gesture of offering condolences on the death of His Eminence’s sister, Hajja Samiha Al-Tayeb, may Allah have mercy on her.

His Holiness Pope Tawadros II had sent a letter of condolences on the same day of the death, and had also appointed an official delegation to offer condolences at the home of the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar’s family in the city of Qurna in Luxor Governorate. The delegation included His Grace Bishop Markos, Bishop of Shubra El-Kheima, His Grace Bishop Pimen, Bishop of Naqadah and Qus, and His Grace Bishop Youannis, Bishop of Assiut, in a move that reflects the bonds of love and brotherhood that unite Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and the Coptic Church.
