Grand Imam calls on international community to expedite entry of relief aid into Gaza amid escalating crisis
Al-Azhar condemns the occupation's barbarism and its shooting of an international delegation of 25 ambassadors during their inspection of the tragic conditions in Jenin.
Al-Azhar Al-Sharif condemns, in the strongest terms, the Zionist occupation's continued prevention of humanitarian aid from entering the Gaza Strip, amidst the unprecedented escalation of human suffering and the ongoing unjust blockade that prevents food and medicine from reaching millions of innocent civilians. This constitutes a major, full-fledged historical crime that violates international conventions and the collective consensus of all divine religions.
The Grand Imam calls on the international community to begin actual and practical action on the ground, by assuming its responsibilities to save the people of Gaza from a real humanitarian disaster. He calls for applying the highest levels of pressure to open all crossings and facilitate the entry of aid. At the same time, he praised the calls issued by the European Union (EU) to end the humanitarian blockade of Gaza, which represents a glimmer of hope and a dim light at the end of the dark tunnel, and a cry in a world where the human conscience has been absent, and where the language of “political interests and benefits” has become dominant.
Al-Azhar also condemns, in the strongest terms, the Zionist occupation's attack on a diplomatic delegation comprising more than 25 Arab and European ambassadors while they were conducting a field tour of the Jenin refugee camp in the occupied West Bank to assess the humanitarian situation there. Al-Azhar affirms that this act marks a new dark page in one of the darkest and most horrific records in human history.
