Supporting the vulnerable, the oppressed and the needy

The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar is highly esteemed among all the people, no matter what their races or faiths might be. He always invested this lofty status in extending the hand of help to the vulnerable and the needy. For him, solidarity is a sublime duty, and he seizes every opportunity to maintain it. So, the International Day of Human Solidarity is an optimum opportunity for him to address the world, calling on developed countries to aid poor peoples, and to end the suffering of the destitute, the marginalized, and the sick, especially those exhausted by wars and conflicts, and weakened by the hammers of hatred and racism.
The Grand Imam underscored solidarity through his noble stance towards the child, emphasizing the great Imam’s concern for human solidarity, his noble stance towards the child who, under pressing living conditions, had to leave school and work to support his family. The Grand Imam then issued a directive to cover all the family’s expenses and the child’s educational tuitions.
In the twenty-sixth episode of Grand Imam At-Tayyeb TV Program, His Eminence warned of the dangers of injustice and its destructive repercussions on individuals and communities.
He further indicated that injustice entails avoiding fairness and that it takes diverse forms, including consuming people’s properties unjustly, harming others by word or deed, bullying the weak, consuming the property of the orphans, husband’s failure to meet the requirements of his wife as approved by religions, customs and traditions, despite an ability to do so, oppressing the innocent or intimidating them and terrorizing their families, etc.
The Grand Imam pointed out that injustice is a deadly sin and a major scourge that confuses all aspects of social life, and that is why the Qur’an specifically warns against it, mentioning the term “injustice” and its derivatives 190 times.
Besides preaching against injustice through TV and radio programs, forums, writings, etc., the Grand Imam never slacks in encountering the unjust no matter how powerful they may be. He thus condemned the Chinese government’s banning Muslim fasting in Ramadan and demanded the Chinese authority to stop all types of violations against the Muslims. He also called on the international community to carry out its duties and to immediately intervene to stop these violations, that are contradictory to all international norms and charters guaranteeing freedom of belief and of religious practice.
