During the period February 3-5, 2019, Al-Azhar Grand Imam headed for the United Arab Emirates to complete his launched path of promoting peaceful coexistence and dialogue between the followers of religions. There, Al-Azhar Grand Imam and Pope Francis had a historic meeting that consolidated the values of peace and dialogue. The two figures cosigned the Document of Human Fraternity for the sake of world peace.

The visit coincided with the convening of the Global Conference of Human Fraternity, which was organized by the MCE with the aim of countering thought extremism.
