Al-Azhar Grand Imam: We seek to select the best competencies to build generations capable of carrying the message of moderation and balance.
His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, Prof. Ahmad al-Tayyeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, received Mr. Hatem Nabil, Head of the Central Agency for Organization and Administration (CAOA), to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between Al-Azhar and the agency, develop recruitment mechanisms, and address the existing gaps in various sectors of Al-Azhar, most notably the education sector.
His Eminence emphasized that Al-Azhar places education at the forefront of its priorities and is always keen to select talents capable of contributing to building generations that carry the message of moderation. He pointed out that education at Al-Azhar is not merely a transfer of knowledge, but rather a noble mission aimed at preparing generations who draw from the light of knowledge and religious guidance, and who spread the values of tolerance and coexistence, based on a solid scientific heritage and a moderate intellectual approach that elevates reason and consolidates human values.
The head of the CAOA reviewed the latest developments in the announcement to appoint 40 thousand teachers at Al-Azhar, distributed over four years. He explained that the first phase has already been announced, which calls for the appointment of 10 thousand teachers in the specialties of kindergarten and mathematics, with 5,500 kindergarten teachers and 4,500 mathematics teachers. He indicated that there are approximately 44 thousand applicants for the position of kindergarten teacher, while 20 thousand applied for the position of mathematics teacher. Applicants' papers are currently being carefully reviewed in preparation for the commencement of specialized tests, which are scheduled to begin in November this year.
Mr. Nabil explained that during the second phase of the announcement, 10 thousand positions will be offered, distributed among the specialties of the Holy Quran, Islamic subjects, and computer science. He noted that preparations are currently underway to announce the opening of applications upon completion of the tests for applicants in the first phase, with the third and fourth phases to follow successively.
He also reviewed the new framework for Al-Azhar's administrative structure, which was prepared to align with Al-Azhar's vision and the expansion it has witnessed in terms of newly established bodies and sectors. Mechanisms for bridging the gap in the engineering, financial, and administrative sectors were also discussed, along with meeting the general needs of Al-Azhar's various sectors.
